U.S. Geological Survey - Customer Case Study

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) needed a better way to manage massive volumes of water time series data collected from its national monitoring network, including stream gauging, groundwater, water quality, and precipitation sites. Working with Aquatic Informatics, it used the Aquarius platform to modernize data management across 3,000 employees and thousands of monitoring locations.

Aquatic Informatics implemented Aquarius, including the customized Graphical Rating and Shift Application Tool (GRSAT), to correct and edit time series data, build rating curves, and publish data to the National Water Information System within minutes. The solution processes more than 500,000 data points per hour, supports 16,500 monitoring sites, and has helped USGS save over 59,000 labor hours per year while improving data consistency, comparability, and reliability.
