Meeting Tucson’s Electricity Needs by Managing Operational Data With Wims

Tucson Electric Power (TEP) needed to centralize and improve the management of operational data at its Springerville Generating Station to increase efficiency, support compliance, and reduce its reliance on paperwork. Facing complex data streams from water, air, and fuel systems, TEP partnered with vendor Aquatic Informatics to implement its Water Information Management System (WIMS) software.

Aquatic Informatics provided a centralized WIMS solution that integrated with TEP's SCADA system, enabling real-time data tracking, trend analysis, and automated regulatory reporting. The implementation led to improved operational flexibility, significant time savings in report generation (from a week to a couple of hours), and more accurate tracking of key performance indicators. The system also delivered unexpected personnel benefits by facilitating cross-training and helping TEP retain institutional knowledge.
