A Aquatic Informatics Case Study
The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of El Salvador faced a significant challenge in managing the exponentially growing volume of real-time water data from its expanding network of environmental monitoring stations. Relying on basic spreadsheets had become unsustainable, requiring three technicians to manually process information and limiting their capacity. This prompted the search for a solution, leading them to the AQUARIUS platform from vendor Aquatic Informatics.
By implementing AQUARIUS Time-Series, the Ministry centralized data management for over 100 stations tracking stream flow, water quality, and meteorological parameters. The solution from Aquatic Informatics dramatically increased efficiency, allowing just two technicians to manage the entire network. This increased the number of stations managed per technician from 4.7 to 50, while also improving the timeliness, accuracy, and integrity of the environmental data used for critical national water management and early warning systems.
