Tombigbee Electric Power Association Adopts Complete Remittance Check 21 Solution from AQ2 Technologies

Tombigbee Electric Power Association, an electric utility serving Northeast Mississippi, faced a challenge with its time-consuming manual remittance processing. The manual system required four customer service representatives to spend four to six hours daily to handle 6,000 monthly payments, preventing them from efficiently addressing customer inquiries. To free up its staff and accelerate processing, the association sought a new solution from vendor AQ2 Technologies, adopting its complete remittance solution featuring Check 21.

AQ2 Technologies implemented an automated remittance system that integrated with Tombigbee EPA's existing software. The solution enabled the utility to digitally scan checks, automatically upload payment data to billing records, and create electronic deposit files. This new process cut the payment processing time by more than half. The electronic transfers reduced trips to the bank and freed up CSRs for customer service. Tombigbee EPA estimated the solution would ultimately reduce total check processing man-hours to just two to four hours.
