AQ partnered with Groke Technologies, a Finnish tech company focused on marine technology, to help design a situational awareness system aimed at making seafaring safer. Groke's challenge was to develop a new product suite that would integrate into the complex and high-stakes environment of a vessel's bridge, complementing the existing ecosystem of navigation tools while overcoming issues like rigid onboard hierarchies and outdated technology.

The solution designed by AQ involved extensive foundational research, including time spent observing crews on vessels. AQ developed a tablet-based platform with a dark interface for low light conditions, intuitive touch gestures, and strategic sound notifications. This system consolidates data from radar, AIS, maps, and Groke's proprietary 225-degree camera to provide crews with a clear overview of their surroundings. The product, which underwent pilot tests in Finland and Japan, was designed to enhance communication and decision-making on the bridge, with the goal of enabling safer and smarter navigation decisions.
