A Aptum Case Study
ThinkBright, a New York–based telecommunications carrier that originates, transports and terminates four billion minutes annually and runs OC3–OC48 interconnects, needed highly reliable Tier 1 colocation to protect latency- and packet-sensitive VOIP traffic. After a poor initial colocation experience and a second provider that failed and flooded during Hurricane Sandy, ThinkBright sought a dependable partner for colocated infrastructure — contracting Aptum for colocation services to ensure continuous service and disaster resilience.
Aptum’s data center remained operational through Hurricane Sandy, allowing ThinkBright to virtually migrate customers into the facility, then upgrade power and bandwidth and later add a second Aptum site for true disaster recovery. As a result, ThinkBright never lost service during the storm, preserved continuous nationwide VOIP operations for its customers, and achieved industry-grade reliability (reported 99.9% uptime and 0% packet loss), while completing a full migration to Aptum within a year.
