A Aptum Case Study
Claremont, a UK-based Oracle Managed Services Provider, needed to strengthen its cloud hosting and backup capabilities without increasing dependence on a single infrastructure supplier. Faced with strict SLAs from large public- and private-sector clients, Claremont sought a separate, resilient backup solution and flexible cloud storage that its incumbent provider could not deliver. It engaged Aptum for hosting and backup services, including leased-disk backups and cloud hosting built on SolidFire storage.
Aptum designed and deployed a redundant backup array in its London data center (leased disks on a Fibre Channel SAN connected to an Oracle Backup Server) and delivered cloud hosting from its Portsmouth site using SolidFire (27 TB capacity) to host three Oracle virtual machines plus an Oracle VM management server, with internal 10Gb connectivity and MPLS linking sites. The Aptum solution removed a single-vendor bottleneck, distributed customer systems across four locations to lower operational risk, simplified networking under one contract, and delivered per-GB pricing and service-level responsiveness that let Claremont scale storage and align costs with end customers.
