A Aptron Corporation Case Study
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (AB Tech), which serves over 10,000 degree-seeking and 14,000 continuing-education students across five campuses, needed to modernize a complex attendance process that must meet varied agency reporting and state auditor paper-format requirements. AB Tech required an electronic system that could enforce evolving policies (for example, locking attendance after the census date) while remaining simple enough for full faculty participation. In 2011 Registrar Scott Douglas engaged Aptron Corporation to implement the WebWizard Student Attendance Software.
Aptron Corporation deployed its browser-based WebWizard Student Attendance Software integrated with AB Tech’s Ellucian Colleague database so live attendance data sits alongside Colleague and can be reported with existing tools. The solution consolidated instructors’ course views, cut data-entry effort (one-click present, mobile access), supported census locking and audit-compliant reporting, and has been used campus-wide for eight years—delivering standardized, timely attendance counts and richer, lowest-level data for institutional and financial-aid reporting.
