Carter’s, the Atlanta-based children’s apparel retailer with 1,000+ stores and a large wholesale footprint, needed to bring omnichannel capabilities into its stores — including buy online, ship to store (BOSS), endless aisle, save-the-sale and real-time inventory visibility for associates — in time for a key holiday season. To modernize its in-store POS and assisted-selling experience, Carter’s engaged its long-time retail platform provider, Aptos, for an updated omnichannel retail POS and associate-assisted selling solution.
Aptos delivered the omnichannel store solution (deployed remotely using VMWare Mirage) and rolled it out to 700 stores in five weeks while keeping existing POS hardware. The implementation enabled full inventory visibility, BOSS, endless-aisle and save‑the‑sale workflows, tablet-enabled assisted selling in select stores, and greater associate empowerment—reducing rollout time and travel costs, earning an Aptos award, and demonstrably improving Carter’s ability to meet customer demand (700-store deployment in five weeks).
