How WorldatWork Created Its Own Java Aptify Development Library to Interface with Aptify

WorldatWork, a nonprofit association for total rewards and HR professionals serving about 70,000 members, faced a major technology challenge after implementing the Aptify association management system: migrate nearly 14 years of custom applications and back-end integrations within a one-year timeline while bridging an incompatible stack (their Java/open-source environment vs. Aptify’s Microsoft-based platform).

To address this, WorldatWork built a Java Aptify development library that uses Aptify metadata to abstract communication with the e-Business server and database—generating a codebase of over 800,000 lines across 2,000+ classes and managed through the Aptify client. The library let developers work in familiar Java, sped development by months or years, and provided flexibility to regenerate code, update configurations, and continue Aptify development with minimal rework.
