English Heritage worked with Apteco, alongside partner Adroit, to improve engagement in its member Welcome Programme. With more than one million members, English Heritage needed to strengthen early-stage communication, especially because members who joined through partners were significantly less likely to renew after year one than those who joined online.
Apteco implemented a highly personalised, four-stage multi-wave journey using FastStats and PeopleStage, with virtual variables to tailor content, site recommendations, and segmentation based on survey responses and member data. The result was significantly higher click-through rates, stronger ongoing engagement across the welcome cycle, more members signing up to the Members’ Area, more survey completions, and increased visits to English Heritage sites.
