Greggs uses Paragon’s route optimisation software to support business transformation

Greggs, the UK’s leading bakery food‑on‑the‑go retailer with over 1,800 shops, set out on a £100m programme to centralise its supply chain and support rapid store expansion. To address increasingly complex, time‑sensitive multi‑drop deliveries and improve utilisation, Greggs deployed Aptean Routing & Scheduling Paragon Edition, using its Multi Depot routing and scheduling and Street Level Mapping solutions to simplify planning and model major operational changes.

Using Aptean Routing & Scheduling Paragon Edition, Greggs implemented centralized planning and route remodelling—notably consolidating Edinburgh and Glasgow operations—which allowed the fleet to be resized (from 35 to 24 vehicles), improved fleet utilisation by over 30%, removed almost 900 miles a week from local plans, delivered a fuel saving of more than 2% and cut around 35 tonnes of CO2 per year. The Paragon solution simplified planning, achieved optimum distribution performance and directly supported Greggs’ wider supply‑chain transformation.
