A Aptara Case Study
Wiley-Blackwell, one of the world’s largest academic and society publishers producing 1,500+ peer-reviewed journals, faced intense competition for authors who demand rapid publication. To stay competitive it set aggressive goals: cut online publication time to 15 days, move to an XML-first workflow with online proofing, and improve access to digital markets.
Wiley-Blackwell selected Aptara’s web-based PXE4 platform to provide an end-to-end, multi-channel digital workflow that integrates content creation, editing, corrections and formatting, accepts Word/PDF/XML, and enables in‑platform authoring and online proofing. PXE4 helped re-engineer workflows, delivered 15-day turnaround for multiple journals, enabled earlier online publication ahead of print, was deployed across divisions, and earned the team a Wiley Pacesetter Award.
