Time Inc., one of the world’s largest media companies reaching over 130 million people monthly, needed to cut XML production turnaround times for nine flagship consumer magazines (including People, Time, Sports Illustrated, Fortune and Entertainment Weekly). The challenge was to quickly and reliably convert high volumes of live magazine content into a standardized XML format without sacrificing quality.
Aptara designed a custom PRISM XML conversion workflow powered by its Power Edit rules-based tool, supported by a dedicated U.S.-based manager, staggered programmers, training, automated processing and a pilot/stress-testing phase. The system went live in ten weeks and now converts content within two hours of receipt, meeting or exceeding Time Inc.’s quality standards and scaling to handle increased demand.
