TruGreen, a global consumer services company, was struggling with manual accounts payable processing for more than 35,000 non-PO invoices a year. Its AP team had to review scanned invoice images from 260 locations by hand and manage complex GL coding and cost center assignments, which drained resources and delayed processing. TruGreen used AppZen’s Expense Audit and Autonomous AP products to look for a more automated, AI-driven approach.
AppZen implemented a frictionless integration with TruGreen’s JD Edwards ERP to read invoices, learn from transaction history, and automatically assign GL codes and cost centers. Nine months after launch, AppZen was fully automating 60% of invoice volume and 70% of GL code assignments, cutting AP staffing from 13 FTEs to 3 dedicated employees. AppZen also detected $785K in high-risk spend and $870K in duplicate spend, contributing to $1.6M in identified risk and duplicate spend.
