The University of Minnesota Improves Peoplesoft Accessibility & User Experience With Appsian’s Peopleux

The University of Minnesota, one of the nation’s largest universities with five campuses and more than 50,000 students, wanted to improve the accessibility and user experience of its PeopleSoft Campus Solutions self-service portals. Working with Appsian and its PeopleUX product, the university sought to make the system easier to navigate for visually impaired users and ensure better compatibility with screen readers and keyboard-only access.

Appsian’s PeopleUX transformed the existing PeopleSoft HTML into a more semantic, accessible structure without requiring changes to the underlying business logic. The solution improved headings, tables, forms, navigation, skip links, tabs, and ARIA roles, helping the university roll out 71 use cases for students, faculty, and job applicants. As a result, The University of Minnesota improved usability, readability, and accessibility at a fraction of the cost and effort of custom development, while supporting compliance with accessible technology requirements.
