Space Solution Firm Hits Pay DIRTT with AppSheet

DIRTT is a Calgary-based space solutions company that uses proprietary ICE® software to design and prefabricate reconfigurable, eco-friendly interiors. Faced with inefficient internal processes—dispatches coordinated by email and customer-materials tracked in Excel, which led to missed requests and forgotten entries—DIRTT needed a simple, flexible way to build business apps without hiring developers.

DIRTT adopted AppSheet (with Google Sheets) to create a mobile dispatch app, a customer-materials tracking app using photos and QR labels, and an internal reuse marketplace. The dispatch app (used by five drivers and many requesters) has supported 20,000 deliveries since 2016 and provides operational metrics to align resources; the tracking app is used daily by about 50 staff and prevents lost or delayed entries; the marketplace serves ~200 users. The no-code platform let a non-developer build and iterate apps quickly, while AppSheet support helped optimize license use and reduce costs.
