Nicolas Mory, an agronomist for the City of Westmount (Montreal), needed a better way to monitor tree species, health and work assignments across the city. Previously he carried paper folders in the field and later transcribed records into a database, which was time-consuming and error-prone, and he couldn’t find an inexpensive, up-to-date French-hosted solution that fit his needs.

He built a French app called PlantCité using AppSheet (via the Google Sheets add‑on) to import geolocated tree data, use site forms with dropdowns and multi-selects, and track past and future interventions. The app eliminated paper workflows, sped up data capture and transcription, and can be quickly modified as requirements change—delivering measurable improvements to field operations.
