Castle Rock Microwave, a small Colorado-based microwave radio backhaul firm led by Brett Bonomo, faced the challenge of competing with much larger fiber and phone providers while managing a major contract to build and upgrade rail communication sites. With Brett unable to be in the field for an extended period and a newly hired project manager running day-to-day work, the company needed structured, scalable processes and real-time visibility into field operations.

Brett built a custom AppSheet app (integrated with Smartsheet) that lets the field team submit forms, photos, and status updates from tower sites, feeding real-time data into office dashboards and customer-facing Gantt charts. The solution enabled remote project monitoring, improved professionalism and client expectations, and helped Castle Rock remain competitive; Brett is now expanding app use for safety briefings, site surveys, and subcontractor timekeeping.
