The Anglo‑American School of Moscow (AASM) faced a recurring onboarding challenge: high expat staff turnover meant administrators needed a fast, reliable way to get essential information to new employees. Paul Carpenter, the school’s Technology Integrationist, had tried a password‑protected website and paper packets, but the site wasn’t mobile‑friendly and paper materials were impractical for staff on the move.

Using AppSheet (and Google Apps for Work), Paul built a mobile app directory of people, places, and services—complete with photos, phone numbers, map locations, links, documents, and emergency contacts like embassies and hospitals. The self‑managed app allows rapid updates without outside developers, speeds up staff acclimation, improves confidence and responsiveness in emergencies, and helps employees focus more effectively on student care.
