The Co-operative Group achieves a new desktop virtualization environment with AppSense

The Co-operative Group, a Manchester-based, consumer-owned business with 4.5 million members and 123,000 employees, needed to virtualize desktops in its new headquarters to cut carbon footprint, improve IT management, support a growing number of remote workers and roll out some 3,000 virtual desktops. After a successful 250-user XenDesktop pilot, the main challenge was delivering a seamless, personal user experience across physical and virtual environments while reducing costs and increasing manageability.

The Group deployed AppSense Environment Manager and AppSense Application Manager on top of XenDesktop to enforce consistent profiles, personalize every logon and lock down remote devices and applications. The solution delivered reliable, indistinguishable virtual desktops for users, improved security and control, reduced licensing and management costs, increased flexibility for remote workers, and is being rolled out to over 3,000 desktops across the business.
