Littler Mendelson, the world’s largest employment and labor law firm with 1,000+ attorneys across more than 60 offices and a 2,000‑user IT estate (about 1,200 mobile attorneys), was struggling with a fragile desktop environment: slow logons (up to five minutes), profile bloat and corruption, plugin conflicts, Offline Files and synchronization failures, and complex GPO/scripting that hindered scalability and migrations. The CTO set out to simplify management and build a user‑centric, reliable desktop infrastructure.

The firm deployed AppSense DesktopNow and DataNow (Environment, Performance and Application Manager) to centralize user configuration and data, streamline policies, eliminate local admin rights and resolve sync/integration issues. The result: logons cut to under 60 seconds, reduced profile and data corruption, improved performance and stability, easier anywhere access and break‑fix, and a more manageable platform ready for future migrations such as Windows 10.
