Case Study: QBE First cuts virtual desktop logon times by up to 60% and boosts productivity with AppSense

A AppSense Case Study

Preview of the QBE First Case Study

Leading insurance provider selects AppSense for their desktop virtualization deployment to support offshore developers

QBE, a top-25 global insurance group with about 13,000 employees across 49 countries, needed to rapidly virtualize desktops after outsourcing much of its application development to offshore teams. While deploying Citrix XenDesktop, IT encountered slow logon times, complex profile management and a need to improve desktop manageability and consistent user experience across physical and virtual environments.

QBE implemented AppSense Management Suite (Environment Manager and Performance Manager) to replace login scripts and GPOs, manage user settings, and enable shared images via Citrix Provisioning Server. The solution cut virtual logon times by 50–60% (and made logons ~10% faster than physical PCs), saved roughly 5 TB of storage for the initial 150 desktops, reduced provisioning effort (about a week saved per 20 users) and delivered seamless, personalized desktops with high end-user satisfaction.
