Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - Customer Case Study

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a global public health agency with over 18,000 employees in more than 25 countries, needed a consistent, manageable desktop experience for staff who frequently work from remote locations. Their Citrix XenApp–based CITGO environment suffered from roaming-profile bottlenecks and slow logons during peak use, and IT needed a way to support remote workers, tighten policy control and deliver the same personal experience across physical and virtual desktops.

The CDC deployed AppSense DesktopNow, which integrated with Citrix and App‑V to eliminate roaming profiles, reduce logon times and improve desktop manageability and security. The solution increased flexibility for remote workers, supported telework and sustainability goals, and provided stronger policy and troubleshooting capabilities—with further cost and manageability gains expected as AppSense is rolled out to physical PCs.
