BC School District 67 - Customer Case Study

British Columbia School District 67 (Okanagan Skaha) supports 7,500 students and 800 staff across 17 schools and struggled to secure and stabilize a mixed environment of 2,000 desktops, 14 Citrix servers and 300 laptops. Tech‑savvy students, shared machines and the need to grant administrative rights led to spyware, keyloggers and unauthorized applications, high CPU use from resource‑intensive apps, frequent re‑imaging and time‑consuming, fragmented management for Citrix, desktops and laptops.

The district deployed AppSense Application Manager and Performance Manager, later adding Environment Manager, to centrally enforce granular policies across all delivery mechanisms. As a result, unauthorized applications are blocked, USB execution is controlled, teachers can self‑authorize needed apps, Citrix server performance and user density improved, re‑imaging dropped to once a year, and overall support costs and operational overhead were significantly reduced.
