Banner Bank, a community commercial bank with 90 locations across Washington, Oregon and Idaho, ran a Citrix desktop environment supporting about 1,000 employees and 150 applications. Resource‑intensive apps caused Citrix virtual machines to degrade during activity spikes, hurting employee productivity and customer service; the bank faced growing capacity demands and would have needed more than 250 Citrix machines (and significant hardware and license spend) to keep pace.
Working with partner Structured Communications, Banner Bank deployed AppSense Performance Manager to throttle application CPU/RAM and set resource thresholds. The result: average users per Citrix machine increased to 14 (a 50% gain), server count dropped from 160 to 90 (nearly four‑to‑one density improvement), and the bank avoided roughly $225K+ in additional hardware and licensing—while help‑desk calls fell and average time‑to‑answer and call duration improved by 28% and 22% respectively.
