AppSense solution protects 1,500 XenApp servers from unauthorised software

Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW), one of Germany’s largest commercial banks, had centralized its applications onto a Citrix XenApp environment serving 13,000 users and needed a multi-level security approach to prevent unauthorized software and malware on 1,500 XenApp servers while meeting strict access, compliance and audit requirements.

LBBW deployed the AppSense User Virtualization Platform to enforce kernel-level blocking of unapproved executables and scripts, apply user- and group-based rules (trusted-owner whitelists and blacklists), and use passive monitoring for policy tuning. The result was stronger proactive protection against malware and unauthorized tools, improved stability and integrity across 1,500 servers, simplified rule-based management, and automated security logging for auditing.
