Case Study: Peconic Bay Medical Center achieves virtually zero help‑desk calls and fast clinician logons with AppSense DesktopNow

A AppSense Case Study

Preview of the Peconic Bay Medical Center Case Study

AppSense plays a critical role in major VDI initiative at Peconic Bay Medical Center

Peconic Bay Medical Center, a New York State–designated stroke center serving thousands of inpatients and outpatients each year, faced major IT and workflow challenges while deploying the Cerner (formerly Siemens) Soarian EHR. Aging rolling medication carts, frequent cart shortages and malware on nurses’ station PCs created support headaches (15–20 help desk calls per month), and the hospital needed fast logons, simplified desktop management, secure access and the ability to run a large virtual desktop environment with a small IT staff.

The hospital rebuilt its network and desktop infrastructure, deploying VMware View, Imprivata OneSign, LG zero‑client devices and AppSense DesktopNow. AppSense provided user personalization, location‑aware settings (printer mapping and timeouts) and clean, consistent desktops on each logon. The result: first logon in 24 seconds (subsequent logons 4–7 seconds), virtually zero malware help‑desk calls, easier management for a small IT team and more clinician time at the bedside.
