Investa Property Group, one of Australia’s largest real estate owners and managers with about AU$8.4 billion in assets and roughly 240 end-users across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and remote locations, faced a fragmented desktop estate: all users ran Windows XP but on widely varying PCs and with many legacy applications. Limited off-site access, unpredictable troubleshooting, near-impossible remote software deployment and poor asset and licence tracking generated high service-ticket volumes and long resolution times for the small IT team.

Investa piloted and then rolled out AppSense DesktopNow (Environment Manager, Performance Manager and Application Manager) alongside Citrix XenDesktop virtual desktops (Windows 7/Office 2010 for remote users) and a standardized physical SOE at HQ. The single-profile approach and AppSense management tools enabled rapid app/printer/network changes without forcing logoffs, real-time asset/licence control, far fewer and faster-resolved support tickets, and a markedly improved, location-independent user experience—allowing IT to shift from reactive firefighting to proactive, strategic work.
