A Apprentice Case Study
CSL Behring piloted a move away from paper at its Bazeley Pilot Facility in Melbourne to make manufacturing smarter and reduce manual, error-prone checks. Working with vendor Apprentice and its Apprentice IO intelligent batch execution system (including augmented reality headsets and a linked iPad), CSL Behring ran a six‑month test to replace paper batch records, SOPs and work instructions and to enable hands‑free operation on the shop floor.
Apprentice implemented AR-guided procedures integrated with lab systems, automated formulas, ranges and barcoding, and real‑time flags for out‑of‑spec results, giving operators on‑the‑spot feedback and the ability to perform processes hands‑free. The solution cut reliance on four‑eyes manual checking, saved operator time, improved compliance and visibility across sites, and is now being considered for broader rollout by CSL Behring.
