Trinity Mirror Group manages team holiday approvals with Google Apps

Trinity Mirror Group, a major UK newspaper publisher, faced a significant challenge in managing holiday approvals and maintaining visibility for its large, geographically dispersed workforce. With over 230 employees in its IT department organized into virtual teams, the previous local administration of leave was unsuitable and led to requests being approved without consulting the necessary managers. This situation created a need for a centralized solution, which they found with Appogee HR's Appogee Leave service.

Appogee HR implemented its Google Apps-integrated leave management system, which features a flexible, multi-level approval workflow and personalized employee dashboards. The solution ensured virtual team and line managers were both notified of requests and gave team members visibility into each other's whereabouts. As a result, Trinity Mirror rolled out Appogee Leave across its IT department with almost no training required and has since processed over 2,000 holiday requests, making the approval process much more efficient and less of a minefield.
