Helping digitally train tomorrow's doctors today and improving healthcare in the developing world

Canadian Network for International Surgery (CNIS) is a non-profit focused on expanding essential surgical care and training in low-income countries, especially in Africa. Its challenge was to reduce maternal and injury mortality by helping more healthcare workers learn lifesaving surgical skills beyond the limits of in-person visiting-doctor courses. CNIS worked with Appnovation on its Mobile Optimized Skills Training (MOST) initiative.

Appnovation created a mobile learning experience with avatars and case-based training to deliver practical, active surgical education. The solution enabled broader, ongoing skill sharing in the community, and the program has trained healthcare practitioners in a variety of lifesaving surgical skills, extending the impact well after visiting teams left.
