Alkan Air, a leading Yukon air charter and air ambulance service based in Whitehorse, needed a simple mobile freight tracking system to help manage valuable cargo like gold samples for mining customers. The company wanted better accountability and peace of mind for customers, while making the tool easy for freight loaders and dispatchers to use. Appnovation was brought in to design the solution, including an iPhone app.

Appnovation delivered a fast prototype within a month, then refined the app with Alkan Air’s feedback and had it ready for testing by February. The app lets loaders quickly select flights and record freight details such as origin, destination, weight, and storage location, with automated email notifications sent to customers when freight is loaded and when the plane lands. This improved real-time tracking and customer communication, helping deliver a far better freight experience.
