Preview of the Repsol Case Study

Repsol cuts energy use by 74 GWh and CO2 by 19,000 tons with Applus+

Applus+ was engaged by Repsol to conduct an energy efficiency study at one of Europe's largest petrochemical complexes in Tarragona. The challenge was to identify potential energy savings across key facilities, including Co-generation II and the Steam Network, without compromising production standards.

Applus+ implemented its proprietary energy analysis methodology, which involved detailed data gathering, visual inspections, and on-site measurements. The solution provided Repsol with a detailed diagnostic, optimization recommendations, and a tool for ongoing monitoring. The proposed measures are estimated to reduce the plant's energy consumption by 74 GWh annually and cut CO2 emissions by 19,000 tons, equivalent to the yearly electricity use of 12,000 homes.
