Case Study: Repsol achieves successful guided wave inspection at Puertollano refinery with Applus+ Norcontrol

Repsol completes 1,080-line inspection in 4 weeks with Applus+

The customer, Repsol, required the inspection of 1,080 lines at its Puertollano refinery using Guided Waves technology, a service not initially offered by the vendor Applus+ Norcontrol. This NDT technique was needed to detect material loss from corrosion in pipes.

Applus+ Norcontrol developed the solution with initial support from Applus+ RTD, acquiring resources and training its personnel. The project was completed successfully ahead of schedule, exceeding Repsol's expectations both technically and economically. Following this success, an Applus+ Norcontrol technician also achieved internal certification from BP, leading to Applus+ being approved as a Guided Waves service provider.
