Case Study: Qiddiya advances giga-project development with Applus+ geotechnical investigations

A Applus+ Case Study

Preview of the Qiddiya Case Study

Qiddiya completes 2,200 boreholes with Applus+

Applus+ was engaged by Qiddiya, a major giga-project in Saudi Arabia, to address the challenge of complex subsurface conditions across its vast 370 square kilometer site. The project required precise geotechnical investigations to mitigate risks from diverse and challenging geology, including collapsible soils and fractured rock, in order to support the safe and sustainable construction of the development.

Applus+ implemented a comprehensive geotechnical solution, deploying up to 35 drilling rigs to complete over 2,200 boreholes and extensive in-situ and laboratory testing. This provided the detailed subsurface data needed for design and construction. As a result, Applus+ successfully enabled Qiddiya's fast-moving development timeline by delivering consistent, accurate data and foundational recommendations across all project zones without delays.
