Enel Green Power validates NML reliability in semi-complex terrain with Applus+ research

Enel Green Power, a major global wind energy stakeholder, wanted to analyze the viability of using Nacelle-Mounted LiDAR (NML) technology for power performance testing in semi-complex onshore terrain, a scenario not yet covered by international standards. They collaborated with vendor Applus+ and its division Barlovento Applus+ on a research project to identify the strengths of this emerging methodology.

Applus+ managed the entire wind measurement campaign, providing and commissioning the NML equipment and handling data verification. The results were compared against conventional met mast data and were very promising, demonstrating the reliability and accuracy of NML measurements in semi-complex terrain. The project provided Enel Green Power with relevant conclusions and specific measures needed to ensure data accuracy for this advantageous and flexible solution.
