The American Red Cross, a leading humanitarian organization that responds to roughly 70,000 disasters a year, relies on a website and 12 mobile apps to deliver lifesaving alerts, first-aid guidance, and training. Ensuring those digital properties work across a vast mix of devices, OS versions, carriers, locations and extreme-weather scenarios — and remain reliable under huge traffic spikes during disasters — was a testing challenge beyond traditional QA.
To solve this, the Red Cross partnered with Applause to run functional, usability and load testing using a global crowd of professional testers and hundreds of real devices. That approach uncovered and fixed issues quickly, validated the apps’ location and alerting behavior, proved the sites can handle large simultaneous user loads, and accelerated safe innovation — giving the Red Cross confidence that tens of thousands can access critical information when they need it most.
