Barnardo’s deployed Applaud to modernise their HR and Finance processes

Barnardo’s, the UK’s largest children’s charity, was running HR and finance on Oracle and wanted to modernise its processes without discarding years of in-house investment. Its key challenges were improving data quality at source, increasing mobile adoption, and giving staff a clearer, more self-service experience across HR and finance.

Barnardo’s implemented Applaud’s HCM solution, rebranding the employee portal as myPlace and rolling out self-service features such as annual leave and an absence calendar across mobile, tablet, and desktop. Applaud helped improve user engagement and data quality, increase mobile usage, and reduce the time managers spent on absence approvals, while also helping Barnardo’s save the equivalent of 150 years of in-house Oracle experience and avoid an unnecessary move to the cloud.
