A Appian Case Study
The U.S. Air Force faced fragmented, antiquated contract management that slowed or halted multimillion-dollar procurements and made it difficult to enforce standardized, agile processes across missions. Multiple legacy systems and limited visibility into procurement data created inefficiencies and compliance risks for base operations, logistics, contingency, and weapons-system contracting.
In under nine months the Air Force deployed CON-IT on the Appian low-code platform, replacing seven legacy systems, standardizing contracting enterprise-wide, and running in Cloud One with DoD IL4 accreditation (IL6 in process). The solution scaled to 140+ sites with over 5,000 active users, supported 68,000+ contract actions, and obligated more than $44 billion in FY2024, while improving audit transparency, accelerating maintenance, and enabling reuse across other DoD acquisition programs.
