A Appian Case Study
Union Bank of the Philippines launched a “digitize or perish” initiative in 2016 to become more customer-centric and automate enterprise processes across revenue, customer experience, compliance and risk. Facing nearly 250 siloed legacy systems and only 5% digitization, the bank set a rapid roadmap to modernize operations and enable self-service, straight-through processing and regulatory compliance.
UBP selected Appian for low-code automation and UiPath for RPA, launching a fully digital branch in under three months and deploying ~400 automated applications. About 25 UiPath bots now touch roughly 60% (~240) of those processes, reducing mortgage approval times from 20 days to five minutes, accelerating processing by 300% and driving digitization from 5% to 97% in two years. The program also delivered consolidated dashboards, human-in-the-loop routing, people transformation (staff building their own automations) and major business gains: revenue up 12x, customer spending up 6x and average daily balances 4x higher.
