State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management Creates Enterprise-Wide Work Platform and Improve Customer Relations

The Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) needed to modernize how it manages public funds and agency workflows—improving collaboration, decision-making, customer experience, and operational efficiency while reducing capital and administrative overhead. CIO Raj Subramanian selected a cloud-based BPM platform that provided fully integrated process execution, native mobile access, and social collaboration to drive enterprise-wide process improvement.

Using Appian Cloud, OBM rapidly built four process applications (three agency-wide), including a service desk expanded from IT to handle all service requests; the service desk was deployed in three months versus the typical 6–8 months, a reported 70% increase in delivery speed. The platform delivered improved visibility, faster development, native mobility across desktop and mobile devices, and better project governance, inventory management, and business continuity—enabling faster, more informed decisions and more efficient stewardship of public funds.
