Sonae Financial Services - Customer Case Study

Sonae Financial Services (part of the Sonae group operating in 74 countries) provides financial products across seven business areas, including the Universo card, in‑store credit, personal loans, the Da card, Continente Money Transfer and the MDS insurance broker. Working through multiple BPO partners, Sonae FS needed a single platform where business leads — not developers — could define, model and monitor end‑to‑end processes from customer touchpoints to back‑office operations, enabling agility and autonomy while minimizing technical dependencies.

Sonae chose Appian to deliver that platform, first building an end‑to‑end Universo insurance value chain and a unified back‑office call‑center application. Appian APIs provide real‑time product, pricing and policy data, automate subscription workflows (charge customers, register data, generate and email policies) and give agents a single interface to view, create or modify policies. The solution centralized process orchestration, sped up deployments and increased business autonomy while reducing reliance on IT developers.
