GRDF (Gaz Réseau Distribution France) is France’s main natural gas distributor, serving over 11 million customers and operating the largest European distribution network. Facing regulatory changes and a split between supplier commercial activities and regulated distribution, GRDF needed to replace multiple legacy systems with a central, secure platform that could support faster service, easy integration, centralized task management, and better collaboration between IT and business teams.

GRDF chose Appian’s low-code BPM and case-management platform (plus Quick Apps) to automate routine requests, manage complex cases, and rapidly prototype simple apps. The platform replaced four legacy applications with a single solution, enabled real-time reporting and integrations (accounting, supplier portals, work orders), and streamlined processes for handling ~80,000 network-extension and 2.5 million maintenance requests annually. Results include unified data, lower maintenance costs, improved visibility and compliance, strong ROI, seven Appian apps deployed, and thousands of users processing millions of cases.
