A Appian Case Study
Piraeus Bank, Greece’s largest lender with about 19,000 employees, €86 billion in assets and more than 6 million customers, faced a fragmented, rigid IT landscape after a decade of strategic acquisitions and mergers. The bank needed to combine strict operational efficiency with a culture of innovation, but siloed systems limited visibility, collaboration and the ability to scale processes across the organization.
Piraeus Bank implemented the Appian Platform to centralize critical business functions, deploying 14 applications to more than 6,500 users across areas such as customer complaints, cash transfers, merchant acquiring, legal order management and green banking. The platform delivered unified data and process visibility, enforced SLAs, enabled BPM-driven KPI tracking and continuous improvement, and produced executive dashboards—resulting in faster, more transparent operations and a stronger foundation for innovation.
