General Services Administration - Customer Case Study

The General Services Administration (GSA) is a federal agency that manages government real estate, procurement and shared services and needed to modernize operations across core areas with strong BPM capabilities to boost innovation and efficiency. GSA faced inconsistent, siloed acquisition planning with no pipeline visibility and required a platform that could support a hybrid-cloud approach while keeping certain data behind the firewall.

Using Appian Cloud, GSA implemented an acquisition planning application that enables 100% of acquisition plans to be created in-platform, provides complete visibility into plan status, and automates reviews and approvals across 11 approval chains. The Public Buildings Service deployed the Appian-based GSA Real Estate Exchange (G-REX) for “Smart Leasing” (delivered in under 18 months, on-time and on-budget) to optimize 9,624 assets and 370.2 million sq. ft., and the Procurement Request Module (PRM)—integrated with FAS tools and Appian Records—streamlines procurement requests as the first step toward a full Electronic Acquisition System Integrated (EASi).
