Defense Information Systems Agency - Customer Case Study

The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) provides communications and IT services to the U.S. Armed Forces and needed to improve efficiency and automation across its procurement lifecycle. DISA’s procurement was slowed by fragmented systems, manual checklists and document edits, and multiple logins, limiting collaboration among customers, contractors, and administrators.

Using Appian, DISA built the cloud-based, mobile-enabled Integrated Defense Enterprise Acquisition System (IDEAS), an end-to-end BPM acquisition platform that unifies pre-award, award, and post-award work and connects over 300 contracting resources. Since go-live, IDEAS has processed more than $1.7 billion in contracts across 36,000 requirements and 38,000 contract actions, replaced 12 legacy systems, streamlined the contractor and procurement experience, and significantly reduced the agency’s IT operations and maintenance costs.
