Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, a financial services company in Australia with 7,000+ employees, had already been building on Appian for several years and wanted to take the next step by enabling citizen development. The bank’s challenge was to let people closer to business problems use Appian directly, rather than routing every request through IT.

Appian helped Bendigo and Adelaide Bank launch a citizen development program with training, sandbox and development access, community support, and a solution assurance process before production release. The result was a growing community of about 12 active citizen developers, and several citizen-built or jointly built apps became some of the bank’s most heavily used Appian applications, automating complex and important processes.
