Case Study: Ace Hardware achieves scalable BYOD app distribution and reduces on-site support from 13 to 3 with Apperian

A Apperian Case Study

Ace Hardware - Customer Case Study

Ace Hardware, a 90-year-old retailer-owned cooperative with more than 4,800 stores, needed a way to deploy its Show Ordering app to thousands of independent retailers’ personal devices at semi-annual conventions. Their homegrown web portal provided no visibility into usage and required heavy onsite support (13 staff), while MDM and public app stores were not viable options for distributing a retailer-only app.

Apperian’s app-level MAM and a private, Ace-branded App Catalog let Ace securely distribute apps to unmanaged devices without device enrollment, while providing analytics and crash reporting. The result: support headcount dropped from 13 to 3, the Show Ordering app was downloaded by ~2,500 users and launched about 30,000 times during the convention, continued to be used afterward, and enabled rollout of additional apps like Ace Ordering.
