Working with us allows the OEM’s engineers to focus on the core development work needed to develop leading in-car systems

Global Original Equipment Manufacturing Company, a leading global automotive OEM, faced rising customer expectations for reliable in-car voice recognition across many languages and driving conditions. To address poor owner satisfaction with voice systems and the complexity of large-scale multilingual data collection, they engaged Appen for speech training data and localization services to support development of connected-car voice features.

Appen delivered a full-service solution — speaker recruitment, multilingual data collection in simulated and real driving environments, transcription and metadata packaging, TTS evaluation, and linguistic consulting (including use of its Detroit testing facility) — enabling the OEM to train systems in more than 20 languages over a 10+ year engagement. The work produced faster data collection, expanded language coverage and rapid scaling into new markets, while allowing the OEM’s engineers to focus on core in-car system development.
